Sharing your views about UVa basketball
The UVa men’s basketball team remains the reigning March Madness National Champions, though in large part due completely to Covid-19. Nonetheless, the team still performed well during the 19-20 season and managed to compensate well for the void left from the national champion seniors. With continuing covid concerns, many look to the upcoming season to examine the UVa basketball preview.
How do you think the team will do? Read on for a preview, and in addition, we’d love to hear your views! We’ll be hosting a live video discussion about this with UVa students – register via the button below and you can add your comments right now to make your voice heard!
New year, new players
With the loss of Mamadi Diakite and Braxton Key, the UVa team loses the majority of its rebounders. However, several additions such as redshirt senior Sam Hauser from Marquette and highly-ranked freshmen Jabri Abdur-Rahim and Reece Beekman will improve Virginia’s shooting game.
Virginia’s defense also looks to continue to be strong, as predicted by CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. Being the top ranked ACC Defense last year projects them into a strong position this coming season.
Tony Bennett, as usual, returns to his esteemed position as head coach, and continues to lead well as the figurehead of the team. Though UVa’s offense was below par than what they should have been last year, new players this year bring hope for offense and returning players will solidify the already strong defense.
Furthermore, though no official word has been sent out yet, many are wondering how attendance will work at official games.
Though sports fans may look to new seasons with wariness, the UVa basketball preview looks hopeful as the team stands a chance at proceeding far into the championship season. Hopefully, the tournament can proceed this coming year. Let us know how you think things are looking for the team this year and the season as a whole by registering for our live discussion.
