UVa’s Cavalier Daily recently released an article investigating intermittent testing and how first year dorms are looking right now. While being a first year has required some adjusting, the Cavalier Daily notes that UVa has put many precautions in place and has implemented many new testing measures. Wastewater is now being collected at all dorms and each first year housing dorm is being subjected to random testing.
The Cavalier Daily’s reporting on important issues such as these is integral now more than ever, as students are quarantined and less able to see how other students are faring. UVa’s increased testing has also been highlighted in several newsletters sent out to students this semester as cases rose dramatically in the beginning.
What do you think? Do you think UVa is doing enough to contain the spread? Do you think the Cavalier Daily is doing an accurate job of covering this issue? What are some difficulties in reporting issues such as this? Start a discussion right now on Ohlelo!
